Before buying a refrigerator you have reach a conclusion on the following things.
How much capacity you need? What storage and organization options do you need? What type of refrigerator you need? What style fridge freezer you want ? Where you want to keep your refrigerator ? What sort of space you have for keeping the refrigerator
Measure how much space you have to keep the refrigerator. Remember to include an inch of a clearance on top and sides of the refrigerator. If you are living in an old style flat make sure that the refrigerator can be brought inside your house through the stairs.
You will also have to consider how much storage capacity you need. If you have a large family and both the husband and wife works, you need to have a fridge with lot of storage capacity.
Next you have to consider the position of the freezer and the way the refrigerator is organized. Once you have decided upon your basic needs, its time to consider the money in your hand and the convenience features associated with each model. Do you really need an ice dispenser ?
Purchasing energy efficient fridge will be a wise option . Depending on the country you are in there will be an energy rating system, which will help you understand the energy efficiency of the model of your choice. Also look for the warranty, generally it will cover one year for the parts and five years for the sealed refrigeration system. Refrigerators usually last 10 years without any problem.
Type of freezer depending on the location of the freezer Top-freezer refrigerators This traditional design is still in most demand.
Pros
The most economically priced. The most economical and energy efficient to run. Generally the greatest range of products available.
Cons
You have to bend down to use the fridge.
Freezer on bottom This is all about the convenience factor . it's easy to use. Pros Bottom-freezers offer the convenience of an eye-level refrigerator. French-door models offer the space-saving narrow door swing of a side-by-side and the option of opening only half the refrigerator for smaller items. Freezer design often with handy slide-out baskets. Cons Costs more Crispers may be too cold (being so close to the freezer) and may ice-burn your vegies. Can be slower to chill especially in the freezer. It can be difficult to find a bottom-freezer model with in-door ice and water. Less energy efficient. Side by Side The Side-by-Side refrigerator has two cooling compartments - a refrigerator on one side and a freezer on the other. Side-by-Side refrigerators are a good choice for families with children because little ones can reach the ice cream with the same ease that they can grab a juice box. In addition, when considering a Side-by-Side model, make certain that you have enough room for both doors to swing open completely. Measure your space carefully - height, depth (flush with countertops or freestanding), and overhead cabinets. Side by side refrigerators take less space when both the doors are opened. Pros Wide range of features available, including ice cube and/or water dispensers. Better for walkways spaces or other areas where you can't have a large swinging door. Generally the greatest storage capacity. Can offer good access for people in wheelchairs. Cons Are inefficient overall in their use of space. Ice-cube maker/ water chiller can take up a lot of freezer space. Can be quite narrow and don't always fit in a pizza box or frozen turkey. Can't be put in a tight corner and need an overall large space to fit. Freezer access can be awkward. Temperature fluctuations can be very different between top and bottom of fridge. Fridge storage capacity Refrigerators with storage capacities from 100 litres are available. The decision should be based on the capacity you may require for the next five or six years, because you may not be able to change your fridge every now and then large families with both the parent working may require larger storage capacity. Safety features Safety glass shelves that don’t break and fridges with anti bacterial coatings to keep the food safe are the some of the safety features modern fridges offer. Flexible storage Flexible storage features are fantastic for maximising the internal area of your fridge so you can store more items easily at one time. Flexible features include; adjustable shelves to allow you to accommodate awkward items, deep door storage provides an extra storage area for your food items, whereas egg trays, wine racks and salad crispers allow you to easily organise your fridge. Auto defrost Maximise the performance of your fridge with intelligent auto defrost technology. This intelligent feature prevents the build up of ice on the fridge element which improves the efficiency of the appliance; this is great for your energy bill and for the environment. Maximum performance, minimum waste. Energy rating All electric appliances are rated for their energy efficiency. The higher the energy efficiency rating the more efficient that the appliance is, A is the highest and G the lowest. Fridges are available with a super efficient rating of A++ and these are the best models for you if you want to help the environment and saving more money off your energy bills. Features •Icemaker – Throw away your plastic ice trays, a built in icemaker will make your day. These ensure that there will always be enough ice. Look for ice makers that have a filtration system in place. •In-Door Water/Ice Dispenser – If you can afford, it is good to have a ice and cold water dispenser on your fridge. Especially if you are a drunkard . •Child Lock – To keep the kids away from your fridge. •Fast Cool System – Sometimes you need a compartment that will chill a food item quickly. Look for models that have this feature if you anticipate having this need. •Quiet Mode – Snoring fridges are gradually becoming a thing of past . If your fridge is kept near your bedroom, it is good to have a quite one. •In-Door TV – This is one of the latest fads for those of you who are addicted to Food TV, or just love catching up on the news while making breakfast.
