Director: Hariharan Producer: Gokulam Gopalan Music: Illayaraja Sound: Resul Pookkutty Lyrics: O N V Kurup, Girish Puthencherry Cinematography: Ramnath Shetty Editing: Sreekar Prasad Story/Writer: M. T. Vasudevan Nair Action Direction:
Pazhassi Raja is one of the big budget Malayalam movies dubbed in Tamil . Directed by veteran director Hariharan and with a cast of super stars like Sarath Kumar and Mammootty , Pazhassi Raja was expected to make an impact in both Tamil and Malayalam movie domain. The characters in a well directed movie stays in mind even after we leave the movie theatre . In that respect this movie is a great failure . Both Mammooty and Sarath Kumar displayed their great acting talents . But the director failed miserably to make an impact . At best Pazhassi Raja can be described as a hollow movie. Once again Ilaya raja proves that his time is over. He belongs to the previous generation. Below average musical score coupled with an above average photography, this film won’t bore you to death and that is a consolation. " Kanika" as Pazhassi Raja's wife Mackam , acted very well, but gave an impression that she was a wrong choice for that role . A historical figure like Mackam should have been given to some one with more maturity and a royal face. Sandeep Karayi’s verdict – This is a film for those who are emotionally attached to “ Pazhassi Raja “ . For the rest, this hollow movie may be watched on a pirated DVD bought from a local store for a couple of rupees .
